Community climbing on Tuesday Nights in the Bethel area, mostly at Tumbledown Dick in Gilead organized by Mahoosuc Mountain Rescue and Friends.

Each week we will set up a few beginner-intermediate top ropes with hopefully some more advanced options nearby and climb from 5ish till dark.

Where

Tumbledown Dick in Gilead

Directions:

• About 1.6 miles East of the Green Bridge in Gilead (which also has a nice swim spot if we need to escape the heat or bugs) on the North Road

• Try to park off the pavement and not hang out in the middle of the road

The Amphitheater, Dorsal Fin, and Great Chimney are the main areas that we’re likely to be at.

Look for something brightly colored (cones, vests, flagging, broken skis…) near the road to help mark where we will be each week.

While Mountain Project and OnX have coordinates, but they seem to be a bit off, so we should try to fix that.

Amphitheater

Follow the trail up from the 1-2 car crag side parking spot on the East side of the hill, easily visible from the road. It’s got a few of the easier routes, but it hasn’t been drying out well.

We can also set up top ropes easily on The Forehead nearby for Crows Feet (5.9) and Shylocks (5.10+) for some more advanced options.
